Seoirse Ó Dochartaigh – a musician, painter and genealogist – has spent many years researching his clan’s history . The images evoked in his series of paintings entitled “The Seven Races of Inishowen O’ Doherty” explore the origins of Clann Fíamhain – the ancient name of the clan – through the remnants of the many O’Doherty castles and residences scattered all over beautiful Inishowen. They incorporate many of the ancient genealogical lines which have survived.
