Dear all

Our current Public Relations Officer Dr Michael Liam Gorry will be stepping down at the end of July 2017 due to professional and academic commitments.  Liam was Chair of the Society from 2015-2017 and PRO since then.  He was head of the team (along with John J Hegarty, Ruth Garvey-Williams and Andrew Garvey-Williams) that won the National Heritage Council ‘National Heritage Week Organisers Award’ in 2015 in the category of ‘Cool for Kids’. Liam also headed the committee through 2 Summer School, and 2 Heritage Weeks.  In 2015 he set up the Society’s Study Group and acted as Adult Tutor and Education Officer for almost two years.  He also (along with Vice Chair John McCarron) set up the ongoing Mabel Colhoun Cataloguing Project, acting as Project Coordinator.  Next year he hopes to run the Belfast Marathon in order to raise money for the Society.  He leaves West Inishowen for east Ulster.

A new PRO will be elected in due course.
